Hippolyte Lecomte (1781-1857). Pupil of Jean-Baptiste Regnault and Pierre-Antoine Mongin, Hippolyte Lecomte is a painter of history and genre scenes. He represented here a departure for the hunt. In the center a couple on horseback gives the orders, on the left the dog pack, the falconer, and some characters on horseback, we distinguish the castle on the right of the stage. This oil on canvas is signed lower left. Old frame with keys. The painting measures 5,31″ X 15,04″, the frame measures 12,91″ X 22,44″. An old restoration on the back of the canvas. Old restorations on the frame. France, early nineteenth century.
