18 ThC fan, “The fortune telling”, circa 1760

18 Thc fan. The leaf is skin lined with paper, it is painted of a scene reminiscent of that painted by François Boucher, “The fortune telling” in 1738. In the center an old man holds the hand of a young lady and predicts the future. On one side child and sheep and on the other side a “naughty scene” where two young people seem to enjoy the sleep of a young woman … On the reverse a gallant scene. The frame is engraved mother-of-pearl, enhanced with gold and silver. Beautiful decor of characters, putti, vases and garlands. It measures 19,68″ in diameter and 10,63″ long closed. It is in very good condition.
